Main pipe renewal at Helsinki-Vantaa Airport
Leak tight pipe solutions
Per Aarsleff A/S has made 30 installations underneath Helsinki Airport in Finland. The purpose of the installations was to prevent glycol used in the de-icing of airplanes before take-off from getting into the groundwater.
On the de-icing area, the environmental issues are taken very seriously. And since the glycol-contaminated runoff is harmful for living creatures, the installations had to be leak tight. A perfect match for our PAA-G-Liner™ cured with UV light. The runoffs are collected into pipelines leading to reservoirs.
Here, the strong liquids are separated, and the light ones are led to the municipal water treatment works.
Fully operational airport during installations
The measurements took place two weeks prior to the relining, which was completed over a period of 11 days. Final work was completed at the end of November 2015. The pipe rehabilitation needed to be fast, and the airport needed to be fully operational during the installation period.
